Getting to Ghent from Brussels Airport (BRU) or Brussels South Station (Bruxelles Midi/Brussel Zuid) by train

From the airport Zaventem you’ll find a train station (Brussels Airport/BRU) at the lowest level of the building, with fast connections to Gent-Sint-Pieters. The cost of a one-way journey is  €15,40

There are several direct trains from Brussels South Station to Ghent on weekdays and over the weekend. Here again, the cost of a one-way journey is around €10, =

Be aware that trains with final destination GENT-SINT-PIETERS are slow trains, stopping at every small station along the way. You need a train with a more distant final destination: GENT-DE PANNE; GENT-OOSTENDE; GENT-KNOKKE-BLANKENBERGE. The journey time to Ghent from Brussels is 40 minutes, from the airport a few minutes more.

See the Belgian railways website for more details.

Getting to Ghent from the airport by taxi, shuttle or limo service

You are advised not to take a taxi at the airport taxi-rank, which may turn out to be very expensive, but to book a taxi ahead of time, so that you are met by someone in the arrivals hall. A trip from the airport to Ghent or vice versa should not cost you more than €105.

One shuttle (and limo) possibility is Airway Services (www.airway.be). They offer a prebooked shuttle service at the rate of €55 for 1 person (same rate for a couple). They need flight details ahead of time and then group travellers according to real arrival times, with a maximum wait at the airport of 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can opt for their individual limo service at the rate of €80 for the journey. Note that, in both cases, the charge needs to be paid in cash (no creditcard facility). Please email info@airway.be for bookings.

The Flemish public transport company is De Lijn (www.delijn.be). Tickets can be bought directly from the driver, or at the machines located at principal stops. Tickets bought onboard are slightly more expensive. De Lijn also has a downloadable App, which allows you to consult timetables and route maps.

Should you require a taxi, there are a number of different companies in Ghent. We can recommend V-Tax, which is both reliable and relatively cheap. Their phone number is +32 (0) 9 222 22 22.
